The New Moral Imperative

It’s time to discuss this.

As has been noted in many places, the United States is slipping into clear and obvious fascism with our latest election cycle.

This is something of a culmination of a 20+ year decline, marked by periods of temporary sanity, all of which only serve to set the table for the next set of debacles.

The results of this latest poor decision will be felt…globally. Nearly every human being on the planet will be left in a worse state because of the poor decision making of the American people, empowering a rapist felon.

There is very little precedent for this, other than the knowledge that empowering a senile, paranoid, vindictive old man slipping into dementia surrounded by some of the most unethical people alive.

This is not hyperbole. There is a MASSIVE information divide in the U.S. between folks who have some understanding of what is going on and those who “do their own research.”

Our media environment has become excessively toxic, driven not in a small part by one of the billionaires who most directly financed the fascism.

This led many people to believe the U.S. was in/headed toward a recession when, in reality, it was experiencing one of the strongest economies the world has, frankly, ever known. Again, not hyperbole, the U.S. economy during the Biden years has been an amazing testament to the hard work and “invisible” efforts of a great many people.

All of that work will now be tested. More likely it will simply be deleted, ignored, if not angrily and intentionally destroyed. At least in those places where credit for our current awesome economy is not taken excessively by those who did nothing but dismiss it. But alas, blatant and obvious lies are the heart of the fascism.

Which brings us to the point here.

Let’s talk morals. Morals are actually important to human life, but our collective moral compass has been thrown wildly out of whack.

So…recently…a video surfaced of the incoming President’s son doing cocaine. Just casually reaching into his pocket, rubbing some on his finger and going straight to his gums.

This is while he’s on stage with the President-elect and our new Shadow President, Elon.

Elon…is a bit of a thing, in and of himself. I’m a bit sad with myself in this regard. I should be linking my hour-long or so take-down of his interview with Don Lemon, which I watched in full, taking detailed notes intending to record a response (life intervened, and it’s still in notebook form). The interview was…not impressive. Elon is not a smart man. Nor is he a moral one. Not in 2024.

I think something happens to folks to have that much money and insulation from reality. Something that makes them dumb.

The feedback loop of reality is how we learn. It’s how we train, it’s how we get better, stronger, smarter, faster, etc.

But what happens when we face no resistance? When no one *ever* says we are wrong? What happens to our sense of morality? Heck, our sense of reality itself would begin to fade.

Maybe even being to think it’s all a simulation, where people are always “acting” around us. The rest of the world being Non-Player-Characters, NPCs. Just props, ultimately.

Hence, the Billionaire’s Dumb Dilemma.

And the need for a New Moral Imperative.

…to be continued…
